Aptiv and Robust.AI to develop AI-powered cobots for warehouse and industry automation
The companies aim to co-develop next-generation AI-enhanced collaborative robots designed to accelerate the automation of warehouses and industrial environments

Aptiv PLC, a Switzerland-based technology leader specializing in automotive safety, connectivity, and green solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with San Francisco-headquartered Robust.AI, a leading provider of industrial automation powered by artificial intelligence.
Aptiv and Robust.AI aim to co-develop next-generation AI-enhanced collaborative robots designed to accelerate the automation of warehouses and industrial environments, the companies said in a press release. This initiative brings together Aptiv’s hardware and software portfolio—including its Wind River platforms and advanced perception systems—with Robust.AI’s human-centric robotics expertise.
“Aptiv, together with our strategic partners, is creating a future built on intelligent and innovative solutions that sense, think, act and optimize in real time,” said Javed Khan, executive vice president and president of software, advanced security and user experience at Aptiv.
Central to the partnership is the integration of Aptiv’s PULSE sensor, a compact spherical camera paired with ultrashort-range radar for 360-degree vision, combined with Aptiv’s radar-based machine learning technology developed from its advanced driver assistance systems. At the heart of the joint offering is Robust.AI’s Carter robot, a multi-function collaborative platform engineered to perform order picking, point-to-point transport, and mobile sorting simultaneously.
“By leveraging Aptiv’s expertise in developing advanced AI models, sensors and real-time operating systems for autonomous vehicles, we will be able to increase Carter’s ability to safely collaborate with human operators in dynamic conditions and confined spaces,” said Rodney Brooks, co-founder and chief technology officer of Robust.AI.
