Expert View: Naveen Arulselvan, CTO at Ati Motors, on their full-stack philosophy

Insights from conversations with CXOs and industry experts from the world of autonomous mobile robots

Welcome to the first episode of our Expert View series, where we hope to bring you insightful conversations with CXOs and industry experts from the world of autonomous mobile robots.

Our guest in this episode is Dr. Naveen Arulselvan, CTO at Ati Motors, a pioneer in self-contained robots with natural navigation built into them. This is Part 1 of our conversation with Arulselvan, in which he starts with an interesting piece of trivia about the location of Ati’s facility in Bengaluru, India’s unofficial tech capital.

He goes on to talk about their early engineering decision to stick with natural navigation and how that, as part of their ‘full-stack’ approach to building their Sherpa family of robots — Ati’s current flagship products — now allows them go in and out of their customers’ factories and warehouses very quickly, while deploying multiple robots.

Those decisions early on meant a lot of hard work for years, but it’s all paying off now. Ati is also now owns the mechanical design the hardware as well as the software stack of the Sherpas, making them amenable to rapid customisation based on different customer site scenarios.
