ABB upgrades IRB 1200 robot family for faster, more precise automation
ABB has launched a new generation of its IRB 1200 small robot family, now available in four variants with payloads up to 9 kg. Powered by the OmniCore controller, the robots deliver faster cycle times, enhanced path accuracy (0.6mm), and improved repeatability (0.011mm).
The new models are 20 percent lighter, reducing mounting and energy costs, and offer full access to ABB’s AI-powered software suite, making them ideal for high-throughput, precise tasks across various industries.
Genesis AI emerges with $105 million to build universal robotics foundation model for general-purpose physical AI
Genesis AI, a global robotics and physical AI company, has exited stealth with $105 million in funding led by Eclipse and Khosla Ventures. The company aims to create a universal robotics foundation model and a horizontal platform to automate all physical labor, addressing the vast majority of tasks still un-automated worldwide.
By combining advanced simulation, generative modelling, and large-scale real-world data, Genesis seeks to revolutionise general-purpose robotics and empower the next era of physical AI.
Tacta Systems secures $75 million to advance human-like dexterity in robotics
Tacta Systems, a robotics startup, has raised $75 million — including an $11 million seed round and a $64 million Series A — to accelerate development of its Dextrous Intelligence platform, which gives robots human-level tactile skills and spatial awareness.
Led by Matter Venture Partners, America’s Frontier Fund, and SBVA, the funding will help Tacta deploy robots capable of performing complex, variable tasks across industries. The company’s technology aims to automate physical labor by enabling robots to sense, adapt, and manipulate with unprecedented precision.
Luminous wins $4.9 million from Australia to deploy LUMI solar construction robots
Luminous Robotics has secured $4.9 million from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) as the first recipient of its $100 million Solar ScaleUp Challenge. The funding will deploy five AI-powered LUMI robots at two major solar farms, aiming to automate solar panel installation up to 3.5 times faster and reduce costs by as much as 6.2 percent.
LUMI autonomously places panels, improving safety and efficiency, and marks the technology’s first large-scale deployment outside the US.
